OUTREACH

IMG_3622.JPG

As part of McCord Gallery & Cultural Center’s mission to bring cultural enrichment to everyone, an outreach program was initiated in 2012 to offer experiences in the arts to groups that often have little access to such programs.

Currently, our instructor Beth Leahy is teaching art classes to developmentally disabled clients from the Park Lawn Association at McCord. Beth held an additional class at the Park Lawn facility prior to Covid-19. An instructor has also worked with a local Alzheimer's patient in art and craft projects.

Other projects have included musical performances and art demonstrations for the residents of Sunrise Senior Living and workshops for the Bridge Teen Center. McCord also provides a scholarship for a very talented deaf artist who was recommended to us by the Southwest Cook County Association for Special Education.

McCord is very excited about these programs and would love to have the sponsorship of local businesses in this worthwhile project. If you or someone you know, would be interested in sponsoring these programs, please call the office at 708-671-0648.
