"Working in a Series" will feature the work of several artists as they explore a similar theme or subject matter. Several artists will contribute works but the work of Stella Solliday and Jill Regan will be featured. Stella has completed a series of portraits of lifelong friends and members of her bookclub while Jill will feature work that has recently been published in "The Best in Pastel from American Artists".

Not cut and paste from the old days! This art form is endlessly intriguing with textures, layers, memories, glitz, earthiness, handmade papers and image transfers. The featured artists exhibit their own sense of style as they invite you on an artistic journey into their minds. A companion workshop is being offered at McCord led by expert instructor Laura Lein-Svencer on April 10.
Sprigs 'n Sprouts

Reception: April 25 We're getting ready for spring by celebrating all things new and fresh for the home and garden. McCord Gallery will host Sprigs 'n Sprouts, a selection of functional and fine art to choose for your home to make it a one of a kind space. Items will include pottery, planters, fabric art, posters, prints, beautiful paintings and more to enhance any home or garden. Come over to our house and view our new collection for your house. |

Victorian Tea, "Art in Bloom"

$30 Gather your friends and family and join us for tea, savories and sweets and "Art in Bloom." America's foremost floral commentator, Bobbi Ecker, will charm you with wonderful stories of flowers, gardens, and color trends and will also share some of her flower designs.
Children's Spring Tea, Ages 8-13
Sunday, May 2, 1pm - 3pm
$15 We invite your children to our House for a Springtime Tea to create all new projects with instructor Beth Leahy: Buzzing Bee Plant Poke, Painted Pots, and Beaded Bugs. (Remember Mother's Day gifts!) After working so hard, the children will sit down to "tea" and sample simple finger foods, while learning proper etiquette.

Join us for an exclusive showing of this fabulous play by Neil Simon at The Theatre of Western Springs. This show is being presented as a benefit for McCord. How special is that?! Showtime is 8:00pm with a pre-show reception at 6:30. This will be a night to remember!
Garage Sale
Saturday, June 12, 9am - 5pm It's a new year so let's get organized, clean out the clutter of the past and donate it to McCord for its garage sale. Ask someone at the reception desk to let you into the garage at McCord to deposit your treasures. It's a win, win situation. You get rid of your clutter and get a tax deduction and we can sustain more programs at McCord through the sale of your donated items. We are ready to receive goods from now until the end of May. |

Interested in Exhibiting your Work at McCord?
The Gallery Committee accepts proposals for group shows year-round and selects exhibits based on work proposed and schedule availability.
If you would like to propose an exhibition, please send the following materials to McCord:
Curatorial statement, brief bio, and curriculum vitae from the exhibition curator
Artist statement, brief bio, curriculum vitae for each participating artist
15-20 images of proposed works with an artwork list including title, artist name, dimensions, media, and year created for each piece
Send all materials on a CD, (images must be in JPG format, statements, CVs, bios may be on CD as a PDF or included as a hard copy) to:

Artwork Guidelines
General Specifications:
All artwork must be for sale and available for the entire duration of the show. All work must be the original work of the submitting artist. Work cannot have previously been displayed in McCord Gallery.
2D Specifications:
Fine art reproductions or giclee prints are not accepted. All work must be properly framed using wire hangers. (Saw tooth hangers are not permitted.)
2D work should be no larger than 35"x 40" framed and weigh no more than 25 lbs.
3D Specifications:
We have a very limited number of pedestals. Exhibitions cannot be based solely on 3D work.
3D work should be no larger than H 5'x W16"x D16".
McCord is leaving the media specifications up to you. We are mainly concerned with space and weight. |
