To celebrate McCord’s Lincoln exhibit, the Palos Park Library will host a concert of Civil War music featuring the
“Battlefield Balladeers” whose repertoire consists of the patriotic, sentimental, and comic songs of the period along with minstrel favorites and the melodies of Stephen Foster. Playing a variety of acoustic instruments the performers in museum quality uniforms will bring to life the sounds of the Blue and Gray.

McCord has been so fortunate to have collectors who have been willing to share their museum quality artifacts with our community for the last several years. If you have attended former exhibits, you will be fascinated by the new items, including rare uniforms and relics from the Battle of Gettysburg. History will come to life on the weekend as re-enactors explain the every day life of the soldiers. Docents will be on hand during the exhibit to discuss the significance of the items. At the evening event a lecture will be presented by well-known historian, Dr. Ted Karamanski, and guests will be able to take a closer look at the collection.
